E-learning

  • efront : eFront is an open source e-learning platform (also known as a Course Management System (CMS), or Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)).eFront is designed to help create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. eFront offers a distinctive icon-based user interface that is intuitive to use. The platform offers a wide range of features from content creation, test builder, project management, extended statistics, internal messaging system, forum, chat, surveys and more.
  • GCompris : GCompris is a suite of free educational software for children aged 2 to 10.It is available for Linux, Mac OS X and other systems. Binaries compiled for Microsoft Windows version are distributed as crippleware with a restricted number of activities; it is possible to access all the activities in Windows for a fee.
  • Moodle : Moodle is a free and open source e-learning software platform, also known as a Course Management System, Learning Management System, or Virtual Learning Environment.Moodle is designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. Its open source license and modular design means that people can develop additional functionality.
  • Tux Paint : Tux Paint is a free and open source bitmap graphics editor (a program for creating and processing raster graphics) geared towards young children. The project was started in 2002 by Bill Kendrick who continues to maintain and improve it, with help from numerous volunteers. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License, and seen by many as a free-software alternative to a similar proprietary educational software product, Kid pix.
  • Sakai : Sakai is a community of academic institutions, commercial organizations and individuals who work together to develop a common Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE). The Sakai CLE is a free, community source, educational software platform distributed under the Educational Community License (a type of open source license). The Sakai CLE is used for teaching, research and collaboration. Systems of this type are also known as Course Management Systems (CMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environments (VLE).
  • KEduca : KEduca is GPL (version 2), (free software license) educational software included with the KDE desktop environment. It includes a module for constructing and saving new tests, and a module for loading and running the tests. Images can be included in questions, questions can have multiple answers with different scores, and questions can have a time limit.At the moment, no finished tests are included when you download it, and tests are difficult to find online, so you have to write any test you want to run yourself. The official Sourceforge page is not updated, the most current version can be downloaded from the KDE KEduca page.
  • KGeography : KGeography is a Free and open source educational software game that tests students geographical knowledge. It forms part of KDE. Current version ships with KDE Education Project 3.5.
